Setbacks

Well at times life decides to throw some curveballs at you and this weekend was no exception. Playing Gridiron on Saturday I suffered a grade 1 bordering 2 tear of the VMO (Vastus Medialis Oblique), the Tear Drop part of your quad, and severe bruising of the responsible for the last 15 or so degrees of movement in your leg.

Now a grade 2 is generally a 6 week outage the doc informs me, however has said if I can get it firing this week I can get slowly back into a regular training routine as early as a fortnight away. This is a key problem with the VMO. Tthe VMO is highly sympathetic and is one of the first muscles in a knee injury to inactivate. So where does that leave my training?

This week and next will be back and upper body. For legs I've bought a neat little device (Neuratrac EMS/TENS) that I can hook up to my VMO and start rehabilitation straight away. Its actually on right now and shaking my leg to death.
